When you sign up for your secure Unum online account, you’ll get easy access to your claim and leave information. Just follow the instructions below to get started.


How to register for your claim services User ID and password

  1. Go to the secure Internet services new account registration page.
  2. Enter the required information.
  3. Click "Submit."
  4. You will soon receive an email containing your temporary password. Then, use our login instructions below to get started.

Logging in for the first time

  1. Go to unum.com and click "Log in" at the top of the page.
  2. Enter your email address and temporary password (which you received in the email), and then click "Login."
  3. Click "Begin" to read the Internet Services User Agreement, then select "I understand and accept" and click "Continue."
  4. You will be prompted to create a new password. Enter your new password in both fields and click "Submit."
  5. Create a unique security question and answer, and then click "Submit." You will be brought to the claim status page.
  6. Please note that if you've just filed your claim over the phone, it will be available on line after 24 hours.

Resetting your password for the web

  1. On the Registered Users login page, select "Forgot password?"
  2. Enter your email address and click "NEXT."
  3. Answer your unique security question and click "Submit."
  4. You will receive an email with a new temporary password. Follow the previous login instructions using your temporary password. The site will then prompt you to create a new permanent password.

Setting your preferred correspondence method (paper or online)

You can continue to receive paper correspondence — or you can choose to have letters and attachments delivered only online.* If you select the online option, you'll receive an email notifying you when new correspondence is available. To set your preferences:

  1. Log in to the secure claim services site. Click "Correspondence Preference" in the bottom right corner of the claims status page.
  2. Click the button next to your preferred delivery method ("Online only" or "Mail delivery").
  3. Click "Save."

*The default setting (if you don’t pick a preference) is paper correspondence, which will also be available online. You can change your preference at any time.

  1. Access and download supplemental claim and year-end tax forms
  2. File your claim/leave paper-free, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  3. Sign and submit authorization forms
  4. Upload documents from your personal computer
  5. Register for direct deposit of your claim payment, when applicable
  6. Review claim status, correspondence, and most recent payment information
  7. Verify and change personal information, including contact information and treatment providers
  8. Get updates 24/7 with mobile web access that’s optimized for smartphones — or use the Unum Customer App, available for Apple and Android devices!
